I have the honour to report that ording to your instructions I was medically ned in Dublin yesterday and the M.0, at examination told me that I had "varicose 19" in my leg leg. He informed me that he d recommend that they be removed but acted by suggestion that if an operation was

ssary I would consider it a great favour t I would be allowed to return to Hong Kong

the operation for the following reasons,

I am in the Medical Department and the Doctors.

This part of the Country is at present very disturbed condition, and I would to return at the latest the end of ber.

Should you not grant my above request that you will forward my request to the ht Honourable The Secretary of State for Colonies requesting that he would by an of grace allow me to return at the time d.
